Fashion of the 90's
In the 1990's we began adopting body modifications such as tattoos, piercings, and branding. During this time the "Casual Chic Look" also became very popular. The "Casual Chic Look" included jeans, t-shirts, trainers, and hoodies. This trend continued into the early 2000's.

The "Grunge Look" also became very popular in the 1990's. Particularly the mid-90's. The "Grunge Look included worn jeans or jean shorts, a flannel shirt worn or tied around the waist, and a t-shirt. Acid wash denim jackets became popular in men along with sweaters, corduroy, and drainpipe jeans.

Also in the mid-90's french label designer clothing became very popular. Brands such as; Chanel, Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Lacoste were used to show ones wealth. This was the time when belly-button piercings started to become really common. Many types of hats and high-heeled shoes also became common.

In the early 1990's exercise wear was very prevalent. Girls would wear leotards as a shirt and wore them with jeans or leggings. Most women would wear white "slouch socks" over leggings with an over sized sweater or t-shirt. They would also wear "scrunchies" in their hair.

In the late 90's the grunge look had finally gone out of style and the rave culture had began. Calvin Klein had started to make a comeback. Brands such as Nike, Adidas, Hitec, and Reebok made shoes with built in air pumps that were popular among men and women.

Another theme that appeared in fashion was "Preppy and Conservative Chic". This came in the mid-90's and was inspired by the 1995 movie "Clueless". After the movie knee-high socks, blazers and skirts with matching plaid patterns, micro skirts, collared shirts, and thigh-high socks became very popular.
